Teriyaki sauce

This classic teriyaki sauce is glossy and a staple in my kitchen to go with chicken, tofu, and sometimes tossed in noodles. I find either honey or corn syrup works great to create a glossy finish. I used corn syrup for this recipe and I will always prefer it.

I made a teriyaki semi-poached tofu bowl.

I can think of so many other meats and things you can eat with this sauce. The most popular would be teriyaki chicken. You can use this sauce for a teriyaki beef stirfry and the sauce gets stickier as you cook in a pan with the beef. My favourite would probably be having it with seared prawns or fish. I am a big fan of seafood.

You can semi-poach or poach the tofu if you are sensitive to eating raw beans or if it’s just soybeans. Cooking most foods will reduce the allergens generally. However, this is not a safe practice if you are extremely allergic to soy or tofu. Always consume the foods your body feels most comfortable intaking. Fortunately I am able to eat tofu though I prefer cooked tofu still.
