This Easy Oxtail Bone Broth will keep you and your family cozy and nourished throughout the fall and winter.
Fall just became winter in Vancouver over the weekend. I thought of this Easy Oxtail Bone Broth knowing it is the perfect dish to stay warm and nourished. This is a very easy recipe using 5 ingredients, not counting the water. You can adjust the ingredients in the saucepan or pot as long as the water covers all the ingredients and a lid is used to cover while cooking.
What is your favourite soup? I find myself cooking more soups in the winter though this oxtail soup and a classic chicken soup are staple dishes all year round. I enjoy broth soups over cream or puree soups in general. It also depends on what I am pairing the soup with.
Easy Oxtail Bone Broth
Ingredients
- 2-3 oxtail pieces approx. 3 inch in thickness
- 1 tsp olive oil
- 1 celery stick cut into large chunks
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 1 carrot cut into large chunks
- 3 cups water add more to cover all ingredients if needed
- salt and pepper to season
Instructions
- In a large sauce pan (with lid), sauté oxtail pieces on medium heat with a small tsp of olive oil to slightly brown to bring out the flavour and keep meat tender when stewing.
- Add water and other ingredients. Season with salt and pepper. Cover and cook on low-medium heat for 1-2 hours.
I also have a chicken bone broth soup recipe, which I will share soon. These two soups are my favourites. I don’t usually put noodles in the chicken soup but you can certainly do so to make the best chicken noodle soup ever!
